High Defintion / Web Video Case Study
As part of the centre’s continual investment and use of the latest technology I have been investigating high definition video on the internet. This summer Study United FC purchased a Sony HVR-Z1E high definition video camera with all the trimmings including a wireless microphone kit, studio lighting, on camera lighting and a suitable tripod. This has enabled us to create much better quality video productions but has also required a lot of time to be invested in training and practice.
This mini case-study is an experiment of recording with various different video techniques in high definition around the Glanford Park stadium. I used Pinnacle Studio 11 to capture the HD video, briefly edit the footage together with some background music, then converted it into suitable web video using Adobe Flash Video Encoder. Technically, it's not "true" HD in the sense that the physical size of the video is no where as large as HD footage would be but the quality is there.
For reference, the Flash video is about 37 seconds long and is 4.26MB in size.
You can see the results below:
Next steps are to experiment with a green-screen or "chroma-key" session. The creative possibilities are endless- virtual guides around this website, possibly using some budding young actors from our daytime sessions. Video quotes about the impact of the Centre are also another idea. I think it could be incorporated into some eLearning material too. If you'd like to know more about this experiment you can email me or call the Centre on 01724 747686
